This is specialized clerical work which requires independent decision making responsibility.

EXAMPLE OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Organizes and maintains records, filing systems and inventories.
  • Prepares statements and inventory reports.
  • Establishes, reviews and updates procedures.
  •  Reviews data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Interviews and screen applicants for employment.
  • Ensures that documents are properly notarized.
  • Verifies eligibility requirements.
  • Researches records and traces documents.
  • Performs billing in accordance with established procedures.
  • Communicates administrative and clerical policies and procedures.
  • Assigns and prioritize work assignments as required.
  • Trains other employees as required.
  • Performs incidental typing as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of correct grammar usage.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to prepare reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities.
  • Ability to develop and implement office procedures.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetical calculations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years of secretarial or clerical work experience
  • College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required work experience.
  • Vocational/technical training in the area of secretarial science or office/business studies can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for each year of the required work experience.
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent can substitute for one year of the required work experience.
