Location Information: Regional Counsel shares coverage of the Central Region (including Brevard, Seminole, Osceola, Indian River, and St. Lucie Counties).

Starting Salary:$2,475.97 Bi-Weekly; $64,375 annually (In accordance with the current spending restrictions, an internal promotion into this position will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee's current rate, whichever is higher.)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advocate for the Department in delinquency court when needed.
Provide legal advice and training to Department personnel pertaining to delinquency issues.
Responsible for initiating litigation of Child in Need of Services (CINS) cases and representing the Department in CINS hearings.
Provide legal oversight of pre-litigation Family in Need of Services (FINS) cases as needed.
Liaison with Circuit Courts and stakeholders.
Analyze statutes, rules, and federal regulations.
Complete legislative bill analysis as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Juris Doctorate (JD) is required.
Membership in the Florida Bar in good standing.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as practicing attorney.
Able to travel to counties within Central Florida region for court hearings and training purposes as needed.

This position is advertised as an anticipated vacancy. Training will be provided. Prior juvenile law experience is not necessary. Submit a writing sample with application.
