YOUR SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

This is an independent level professional nursing position providing health care services to clients in the Family Planning and Prenatal Health Services Program under the direction of the Registered Nurse Consultant

 

Provides nursing services for clients in Family Planning Prenatal Health Services Program, interviews, counsels, educates, obtains health histories, administers medications, makes nursing assessments, and provides follow-up care.  Interprets providers' orders to clients and/or caregiver and gives health care instructions.  Assists providers in exam rooms, conducts screening tests, collects specimens and performs laboratory tests as indicated.  Provides nursing support as needed at outreach/awareness and incident response events within the community to include mass immunization, emergency response activities, and community health engagements. Nursing support may be required outside of normal business hours to accommodate community needs during evening and weekends hours

 

Performs timely and accurate documentation both electronically and manually per policies and procedures. Adheres to

FDOH policies for security of client data and security systems. Collects and records client information according to policies and procedures. Audits records for compliance daily and as designated. Completes all nursing components of meaningful use as directed.

Provides optimal customer services, including answering the phone, routing calls appropriately, making appointments and giving general information to the public.

Assures that the client completes the client satisfaction survey at each encounter.

 

Maintains and submits required clinical and administrative forms accurately, legibly and within required time frames including EAR's, People First, Emergency Response systems, Travel and other applicable administrative forms.

 

Provides triage and clinical visits following FDOH-TAG's and policies with emphasis on education and counseling. Completes referral process for appropriate laboratory service and agencies per program procedures and protocols.  Facilitates efficient clinical flow. Provides case management for referrals and abnormal test results.

 

Assists in maintenance of clinic area, inventory, ordering drugs and supplies. Attends required staff and programatic trainings including FDOH/Federal/State mandatory trainings. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licensed Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with F.S. 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with F.A.C. 210-6.27.
  • Speak and interpret English/Spanish or English/Creole.
  • Required to work during or beyond normal work hours or days in event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent working in special needs or Red Cross Shelters, or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
