This position is eligible for both Overtime pays and an additional $1.00 per hour Florida Nurses’ Association shift differential pay for qualifying shifts. *

6:45 am - 8:35 pm

6:45 pm - 8:35 am

40 hours in 3 days (13-hours, 20-minute actual work time), every other weekend off.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a valid CPR certification.
  • Must have a valid Florida Registered Nursing license.
  • Must have supervisory experience working in a long-term care facility.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be willing and able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Successful completion of the employment screening process includes, but is not limited to, a national background investigation and drug test.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Electronic Medical/Health Records.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, and Word).
  • Experience with medication administration.
  • At least one (1) year of experience as a Registered Nurse Supervisor.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The incumbent is responsible for providing quality professional care to the veteran residents to ensure their health, safety, and security in accordance with established agency Standard Operating Procedures and Nurse Practice Act. This position reports to the Director of Nursing. 

  • Provide initial and ongoing assessment of the resident population.
  • Perform assigned duties to include, but not limited to, administration of medications and treatments per Medical Doctor (MD) order, monitoring and providing interventions to meet the needs of the resident, completing accurate clinical documentation reflective of resident’s status, and providing supervision and guidance to the Registered (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and other Allied Health Care Professionals
  • Supervise and direct nursing personnel on an assigned shift. 
  • Ensure that the nursing personnel are following their job descriptions and that the residents are receiving total nursing care.
  • Review shift assignments and ensure that the assignments reflect the ability of the staff person to meet the specific nursing care needs of the residents.
  • Ensure that work assignments are written, dated, and posted.
  • Receive notices of absence when nursing staff calls off, and coordinates assignments to maintain regulatory compliance and meet the needs of the residents.
  • Notify the Administrator and/or DON of any emergency situations in the building.
  • Make daily rounds to observe residents and to determine if nursing needs are being met. 
  • Observe all nursing staff giving care at least once during an eight-hour shift.
  • Maintain the standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the facility and nursing department. 
  • Follow all local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Assist in review of policies and procedures. 
  • Ensure that reference material at the nurses’ stations is current. Make recommendations to DON for improved and/or additional items.
  • Review and follow-up incidents and/or complaints occurring on assigned tour of duty.
  • Ensure that all verbal orders, including telephone orders from attending physicians, are reviewed by a registered nurse. 
  • If no RN is available, receive all telephone orders from physicians.
  • Assist Nursing Program Specialist in ensuring that all assessments are completed prior to the Interdisciplinary Resident Care.
  • Plan Committee meeting.  Check all documentation related to assessment for those residents scheduled for Care Plans. 
  • Ensure that any incomplete documentation is finished within twenty-four (24) hours of the scheduled Care Plan Conference.
  • Participate in economical utilization of supplies and ensure that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
  • Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patients such as cardiac arrest.
  • Participate in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment.
  • Actively participate in continuing educational programs for self-development and in overall quality improvement programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
