The Division of Investigative and Forensic Services encompasses all law enforcement and forensic components residing within the Department of Financial Services. With this broad responsibility, the division investigates a wide range of fraudulent and criminal acts including:

 

  • Insurance Fraud Investigations
  • Workers' Compensation Fraud Investigations
  • Fire, Arson, and Explosives Investigations
  • Theft/Misuse of State Funds
  • Fire and Explosives Sample Analysis

The base salary for this position is $31,200.00.

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

WHAT IS THE SELECTION PROCESS?

Selection is a three-to-six-month process that consists of the following:

  • Completed State of Florida Employment Application

  • Interview
  • Fingerprinting
  • Background Investigation
  • Financial credit report

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar usage.
  • Knowledge of letter, report, and tabular formats.
  • Skill in typing.
  • Ability to operate word processing equipment.
  • Ability to use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Ability to type letters, memoranda, and other standard business forms in correct format.
  • Ability to proofread typed material for typewritten and grammatical errors and to make necessary corrections.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability and skills to effectively work in Microsoft Office Suite, to include Word, Excel, and Outlook.

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Types draft and final reports. This may include reviewing reports, memoranda, interviews, and other documents of a legal nature.

 

Reviews suspected fraud referrals for purposes of entering and linking information. This includes using confidential databases to gather information to confirm the identities of subjects and verify information.

 

Assist as office receptionist. Receives and routes telephone calls.

 

Assist in providing assistance with search warrants with evidence logging, sketching diagrams, taking photographs.

 

Performs related duties as required.
