MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have current Florida Certified Nursing Assistant License
  • Must be willing and able to work some weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Must be willing and able to drive a 15-passenger facility van.
  • Must have a valid Florida driver’s license.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English: reading, writing, speaking, and understanding.
  • Must have basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Successful completion of the due diligence process to include, but not limited to, a Level II background check and drug test.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in a long-term care environment with a geriatric population in the activities department.
  • Current CPR card
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The incumbent of the Senior Certified Nursing Assistant (SCNA) / Activities position will ‎be responsible for ensuring that the residents Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), daily ‎assignments and an ongoing program of activities in accordance with the ‎comprehensive assessment are completed during the shift while identifying and ‎resolving needs.  Reports directly to the Activities Director (Therapy Aide Supervisor).‎

  • Assist with developing and implementing an activities program, which ‎maintains or improves physical, mental, and social well-being with a varied work schedule that may ‎include weekend, evenings, and holidays‎.
  • Assist with developing activities plan for each resident in accordance with the inter-‎disciplinary team process. 
  • Responsible for the documentation of that plan in the resident’s medical record
  • Responsible for initial interview with new residents and input of resident data into the ‎medical record
  • Performing duties of the Activities Director when the Activities Director is unavailable.
  • Responsible for maintaining the activity space and requesting equipment and ‎supplies for the program and ensuring resident safety for individual and/or group ‎activities‎.
  • Provide necessary assistance by giving residents the following Activities of ‎Daily Living nursing care: oral hygiene, ‎bathing, dressing, and grooming, hair and nail ‎care, shaving, toileting, assistance with meals, nourishments and transportation ‎to ‎meal service areas, and mobility. 
  • Routinely observe, identify, and report resident ‎concerns/needs to supervisor.
  • Provide ‎escort to resident appointments when required. ‎
  • Complete assignments timely, completely, and accurately.
  • Accept assigned ‎duties in a ‎cooperative manner‎.
  • Perform restorative nursing measures.
  • Document in the nursing assistant notes the care ‎and treatment provided to the resident ‎and the response or lack of response to care ‎provided.
  • Perform simple nursing measures such as but not limited to applying splints and ‎positioning devices, making occupied and ‎unoccupied beds, changing linens, taking vital ‎signs, weights, recording intake and output, etc.
  • Follow established performance ‎‎standards and perform duties according to nursing service policies and procedures. ‎
  • Review care plans and perform nursing ‎care as outlined.
  • Participate in the development ‎of an individualized plan of care of assigned residents. ‎
  • Respond to residents' requests/needs and assure residents have call lights at hand and ‎answer call lights promptly.
  • Observe all facility safety, infection control policies and procedures‎.
  • Complete required documentation.
  • Consistently working cooperatively with resident, ‎resident’s representatives, facility staff, physicians, consultants, and ancillary service ‎providers.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident.
  • Attending all in-service program classes as assigned and complete assignment.
  • ‎Participate in interdisciplinary team and other facility meetings as assigned.
  • Follow ‎Residents Rights’ policies at all times.
  • Assume accountability for data contained in the ‎employees’ handbook.
  • Performs all other duties as ‎assigned.
