Starting salary:

Job Description:


The State Attorney’s Office for the Ninth Judicial Circuit of Florida is responsible for the prosecution of all crimes committed in Orange and Osceola counties. We are seeking Assistant State Attorneys that have good judgment and share the office’s mission to keep people safe by prosecuting those who disrupt our community and to ensure the pursuit of justice is done in a transparent, fair, and thoughtful way that maintains the trust of those we serve.


Applicants must have a strong interest in courtroom litigation, with excellent communication and critical thinking skills.

Essential Functions:


The following duties are normal but are not limited for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.


  • Assists in the conduct of jury trials, preliminary and pretrial hearings, and related courtroom proceedings.
  • Investigates, evaluates and prepares cases for trial.
  • Conducts case research and documentation.
  • Communicates and serves as a liaison with victims, family, witnesses and community partners.
  • Manages caseload.
  • Coordinates with community partners and the public to support and promote criminal justice efforts and crime prevention initiatives.
  • Professional interaction with the public, law enforcement, and office staff.
  • Applicant must be able to work independently and as a team member.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Juris Doctor Degree required
  • Experience in criminal justice, legal or generally related field is required; or
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.


Specific License or Certification Required:


Must be a member in good standing of the Florida Bar.
