Tomoka State Park is looking for a self-motivated park service professional to fill an OPS Park Ranger position, providing visitor services, maintenance, protection, administration, and resource management. The applicant must possess good visitor service and administrative skills, be able to work independently and have the ability to perform a variety of skilled trade functions using assorted equipment and tools. The applicant must be able to work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Tomoka State Park is only 6 miles from the Atlantic Ocean and Scenic A1A. If you are visiting the Daytona Beach area, the Daytona Convention Center is 10 miles away and the Speedway is 15 miles away. Pay:
$15 per hour
Your Specific Responsibilities:
VISITOR SERVICES- Explains facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment and education; meets visitors, answers questions, provides information and directions. Attempts to resolve visitor complaints while maintaining good public relations. Will assist with special events and perform interpretive programs to educate park visitors.
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT- Performs exotic plant removal under the supervision of the park staff.
MAINTENANCE- Maintains facilities and grounds including campsites to FPS standards, including janitorial duties of restrooms, mowing, trimming, raking and cleaning campsites.
ADMINISTRATION- Prepares reports in a timely manner including timesheets, vehicle log entries and maintenance logs.
PROTECTION- Ensures park rules and regulations are enforced pertaining to all park natural areas, historic sites and cultural resources and the use thereof for enjoyment of the visitor and the protection of the resources.
Performs related work as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Work independently with little supervision.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Prepare reports.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Perform physical labor utilizing power/electrical/ gas tools and equipment.
- Deal with visitor inquiries in a tactful, efficient and courteous manner.
- Understand and apply rules, directives, policies, laws and regulations.
- Work rotating shifts including nights, holidays and weekends.
- Maintain a valid class E driver’s license.
- Skill in utilizing motor vehicles.
- Knowledge and ability to perform routine inspections.
- Identify and investigate problems and maintain facilities and equipment.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Driver’s license
- Successful comletion of background/fingerprint check
