Duties and Responsibilities

This position is responsible to administer all program activities associated with Dealer Licensing, Rebuilt and other vehicle inspections including RVs and Mobile Homes, consumer complaint investigations, compliance enforcement and other related duties as assigned.   The position is also responsible for supervising and for reviewing the supervisory activities of subordinate supervisors; training and development of subordinates; directing the collection of data, ensuring timely reporting of program data and updating program procedures; directing complaint investigations and processing within the region; overseeing the timely processing of dealer license issuance, titles and registrations; coordinating all promotional activities necessary for implementation of the assigned programs, dealer licensing at the regional level, and related work or special projects as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Skill in operating personal computers, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Skill in management/supervisory practice
  • Skill in applying rules, regulations, policies and procedures similar to programs administered by DHSMV
  • Ability to supervise, lead, delegate and motivate activities of subordinate staff relating to the administration of bureau programs in order to meet bureau goals and objectives
  • Knowledge of the automotive industry
  • Skill in planning, organizing and coordinating work assignments
  • Skill in communicating with customers effectively and efficiently in a tactful and courteous manner
  • Skill in performing or overseeing investigations
  • Skill in investigative or consumer complaint resolution

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience using Microsoft Office programs Word and Excel.
  • Experience conferring with officials, technical or professional specialists to obtain information or clarify facts in order to make recommendations based on your findings.
  • Two or more years of experience researching and applying rules, regulations, policies, and procedures administered by a governmental agency or private entity.
  • Two or more years of experience in the collection of data, ensuring timely reporting of data, and/or updating procedures.
  • Two or more years of experience in the supervision of subordinates.
  • Two or more years of experience planning, coordinating or organizing work assignments.

 

Job Related Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to have and maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing. This means there can be no cancellations, suspensions, or revocations for a minimum of three years prior to employment and for the duration of employment.  There can be no more than three chargeable crashes or any violation of Chapter 316, Florida Statutes, during any consecutive three-year period prior to and throughout employment.

 

General Information

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI.  Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
