Position Overview and Responsibilities:
This position in the Bureau of Natural and Cultural Resources functions as the Division wide Invasive Plant Coordinator for the Division of Recreation and Parks, including such tasks as: Conduct annual review and analysis of IPM program. Include items such as identification of shortfall areas, successes, applicator productivity, contractor production and cost analysis, partner involvement, and training. Meet with invasive plant coordinators quarterly. Promote and support the development of 5-year treatment plans. Travel, as needed, to review site conditions and assist with management plan production. Complete Invasive Plant Management Standard. Support invasive plant treatment, surveys, and training needs for the Division. Assess available digital tools and future opportunities. Develop annual Task Assignments and review deliverables. Review NRTS invasive plant data and in particular, annual goals. Ensure annual NRTS goals align with 5-year treatment plans. Coordinate with other agencies and NGOs to maximize land management project efficiency.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:

- Pesticide use, various pumps and sprayers
- Management strategies for Florida natural communities
- Ecological monitoring strategies

Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 15 years of verifiable related experience in invasive species management. Post-secondary degrees from an accredited college or university with a major in natural science may be used as an alternative for the required years of experience on a year-for-year basis. A credential evaluation report from an approved agency must be submitted along with all foreign degrees.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Position of Special Trust Requirement:
This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.
Pay:
$24.00 - $28.00/hour (commensurate with experience)
40 hours/week
