Position Overview and Responsibilities:

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to serve as an OPS Training Specialist based at St. Andrews State Park.

 

This position supports District 1’s employee development and workplace engagement initiatives. This position is 28 hours per week and does not include benefits or paid leave.  Work schedule and hours may vary depending on training events or engagement initiatives.

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Compliance with the processing requirements of Chapter 215.422, F.S. is mandatory.  Persistent failure to comply with this section by any agency of the state shall constitute good cause for discharge of employees duly found responsible, or predominately responsible, for failure to comply.

 

This is moderately independent work providing administrative and training support to the District 1 team.

 

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication
  • Principles, methods and techniques of successful training and professional development programs
  • Use of current media and technology in training programs
  • Applicable accessibility and inclusion laws, regulations, standards and guidelines
  • Current fiscal procedures

Skilled in:

  • Effective public speaking
  • Development and management of division-wide initiatives
  • Development, review, evaluation and production of a variety of training programs, including program standards and guidelines, training-based program curricula and program plans

Ability to:

  • Utilize problem solving techniques and apply critical thinking skills
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
  • Delegate across chains of command
  • Apply creativity to the development and management of new programming
  • Collect, organize, evaluate and analyze data
  • Manage programs and deliver results based on project goals
  • Apply time management best practices
  • Use computer software applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat
  • Understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Lift up to 30 pounds
  • Maintain a valid driver license
  • Travel when required

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Valid Driver’s License

 

 

Position of Special Trust Requirement:

This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.

 

 

Pay:
