SALARY:  This position will be hired at the salary of $1,830.77 bi-weekly; $47,600.02 annually

 

This is a highly professional position in Adult Protective Services (APS) requiring expertise in medical evaluation and medical assessment of vulnerable adults. This specialized position is to function as the medical expert for adult protective investigations, adult protective supervision, and adult protective intervention programs both as a team member and independently.

Review and interpret medical records to assist protective investigation and supervision staff with medical decisions relating to investigations of adult abuse, neglect, and exploitation and provision of services to vulnerable adult victims.

Provide professional nursing diagnoses for vulnerable adults who are victims of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. This includes providing expert opinions regarding the presence and causes of abuse or neglect and exploitation and making recommendations for the prevention of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of vulnerable adults.

Provide written reports of nursing opinions and medical documentation in accordance with current operating procedures and policies concerning alleged abuse, neglect, and exploitation reports received through the hotline.

Make recommendations for intervention through immediate and on-going protection of victims.

Coordinate the multi-disciplinary Adult Protection Team in the protection, prevention, and implementation of treatment for vulnerable adults who are victims of abuse, neglect  or exploitation.

Conduct or arrange pre-service and in-service training with APS staff on medical aspects of abuse, neglect and exploitation of vulnerable adults.

Provide professional, medical training to the public and private sectors regarding the medical aspects of abuse, nelgect, or exploitation of vulnerable adults.

Serve as the Adult Death Review Coordinator to ensure compliance with program standards and procedures.

KSA’s:

General nursing skills and knowledge of standard nursing practices.  Ability to read and interpret medical documentation.  Ability to summarize the medical documentation reviewed in the form of a well-written report.  Ability to utilize the computer to prepare and finalize all medical reports.  Extensive knowledge and understanding of Adult Services programs.  Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.  Knowledge of relevant Department policies and operating procedures.  Ability to organize tasks and prioritize assignments.  Confidence to locate information and decipher essential components necessary to execute a particular task.  Ability to perform public speaking.  Ability to facilitate training.
