Qualifying shifts will receive a $1.00 per hour shift differential.
Direct care Registered Nurse applicants that have not been employed by the FDVA in the last 12 months may be eligible for a $3,500.00 sign-on bonus. OPS and non-direct care positions are not eligible for a sign-on bonus.

The FDVA Nursing State Veterans’ Nursing Homes and Domiciliary are designated employment sites for the Nursing Student Loan Forgiveness Program.
- From funds available, the program may make nursing education loan repayments of up to $4,000.00 per year, per nurse enrolled in the program, for a maximum of four years.
- Payment is made at the end of each 12 month enrollment period and made directly to the participant’s lender.
- Enrollment and payment of awards is based on available funds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be willing and able to work a schedule that is inclusive of weekends and holidays.
- Must have a valid Florida Registered Nursing License.
- Must have CPR/BLS certification
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Must be fluent in the English Language: Reading, Writing, Speaking.
- Successful completion of the employment screening to include, but not limited to, a Level 2 background screening and drug test.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications:
- Experience passing medications in a skilled nursing facility.
- Experience working with Electronic Health Records (EHRs).
- Employment experience in a long-term care facility is required.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The incumbent is responsible for coordinating total nursing care for patients. Participate in patient and family teaching and provide leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Works under the direct supervision of the Senior Registered Nurse Supervisor.
Administer medications and perform treatments to assigned patients. Complete documentation of needs and treatments as required by local, state and federal requirements. Assist team members in giving care to patients. Administer direct care when professional nursing skill and judgment are needed.
Provide lead-worker duties as defined in F.A.C. 60K-2.0061 (3) (d). Assign nursing care to team members in accordance with the patient’s needs and available staffing. Coordinate other duties as needed. Direct and evaluate nursing care provided to patients. Assist with orientation of new personnel. Coordinate nursing care of patients when scheduled for therapy or procedures by other sections. Establish and maintain communication and utilize teaching opportunities with patients and other significant individuals.
Report pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.e. Physician, head nurse, charge nurse and/or nursing supervisor and appropriate family member). Record observations accurately and concisely. Assist physicians with special tests and procedures with the scope of the Florida Nursing Practice Act.
Assess and document the patient’s condition and nursing needs. Set goals and prescribe appropriate nursing interventions to meet the physical, psychological, social, rehabilitative and discharge planning Initiate and share in the leadership of team conferences in development of individualized nursing care plans.
Maintain the standards if nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of the facility and nursing department. Follow all local, state and federal rule and regulations. Comply and perform within the scope of practice as defined b the Florida Nursing Practice Act.
Actively participate in continuing educational programs for self-development and in overall quality improvement programs.
Participate in economical utilization of supplies and ensure that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner. Assist with and initiate emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patients such as cardiac arrest. Participate in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
