POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is in the Pensacola Regional Operations Center, reporting to the Investigations Analytical Support Squad. This is a full-time position that requires the ability to work in a collaborative environment, conduct research, collect data, and disseminate intelligence. The position is considered essential and requires on-call hours and possible response to critical incidents before or after normal working hours to include weekends.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Conducting research and analysis of pertinent data related to illegal activities involving domestic security, violent crime, narcotics, intelligence, economic crime and public integrity investigations;
  • Designing, developing or otherwise facilitating the use of databases and files to collate and correlate data pertinent to domestic security violent crime, narcotics, intelligence, economic crime and public integrity investigations;
  • Proactively identifying intelligence that affects FDLE crime specific focus areas;
  • Establishing and maintaining liaison with and initiates and/or coordinates inter-agency contacts among FDLE entities, federal partners, and/or in-state/out of state agencies;
  • Reviewing, evaluating and analyzing current intelligence data, current events, periodicals and publications related to criminals, their activity and to crime trends of impact of organized crime within the operations center area;
  • Making recommendations for inclusion on intelligence data into information and intelligence sharing systems; and
  • Preparing reports, summaries, and assessments of data in intelligence and information systems which are presented in charts, graphics, written form or oral briefings, including hypotheses based on collected data and analytical and professional judgement.

 

To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university;
  2. Experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or in a law enforcement agency can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  3. Any combination of education or experience, as described above.
  4. Completion of a 720-hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in law enforcement can substitute for one year of the required education.

 Note: 30 semester hours, or equivalent, of coursework from an accredited college or university is equivalent to one year of experience.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:  

  • Knowledge of report writing, research and intelligence analysis techniques;
  • Knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in various Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Access;
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems;
  • Ability to organize data into logical formats for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials;
  • Ability to conduct fact finding research;
  • Ability to use problem solving techniques;
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments;
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

 

BASE SALARY:

Crime Intelligence Analyst I

$41,200 – Bachelor’s degree*

Crime Intelligence Analyst II         

$44,290 – Bachelor’s degree* and one year of analytical** experience.

Senior Crime Intelligence Analyst I

$46,350 – Bachelor’s degree* and three years of analytical** experience.

Senior Crime Intelligence Analyst II

$55,620 – Bachelor’s degree* and five years of analytical** experience.

*A master’s degree in criminology, law enforcement intelligence analysis, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis or comparable discipline; or a professional certificate in one of these disciplines can substitute for one year of experience.

 

**Analytical experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year- for-year basis. Analytical experience must be in the fields of: criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, law enforcement agency (CIA I/CIA II) or investigative experience in a law enforcement agency (SCIA I/SCIA II).

 

NOTES:

  • Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating strong skills in critical thinking; analytical research and interpretation; developing and delivering presentations and training to internal FDLE members, as well as, other law enforcement agencies throughout Florida.  Applicants should possess excellent multi-tasking skills.
  • As a member of a law enforcement agency, during any critical incident or disaster (both natural and man-made), these positions may be designated as an essential service position for a given period. During this time, you may be required to work after normal business hours, during office closures, or during weekends and/or holidays when needed.
  • This Crime Intelligence Analyst position is included in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Crime Intelligence Analyst Progression Plan. The plan provides professional development training and advancement opportunities to enhance FDLE’s investigative strategy and promote development within the crime analysis field.
