Join the State Attorney’s Office for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida as a Prosecutor!  Our office is responsible for the prosecution of all crimes committed in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton counties.  We are seeking Assistant State Attorneys that have good judgment and a passion to keep our community safe.  

We hire Florida Bar members in good standing who have demonstrated an interest in litigation and/or criminal law through course work and internships.  We also recruit attorneys with prosecutorial experience for lateral hires.

 

Our prosecutors manage a large caseload, are in court frequently, and prosecute numerous trials. Training and mentoring are provided by senior attorneys. This is truly a unique opportunity to learn to become a first-class trial attorney.

 

Entry level annual salary for attorneys is $65,000.00 which coupled with our generous benefits package is comparable to $109,344.00 annually.  Benefits include State of Florida employee retirement and insurance options, paid holidays and paid leave.

Applicants must have a strong interest in courtroom litigation, with excellent communication and critical thinking skills. Attorney responsibilities include, but are not limited to: preparation of criminal cases for prosecution requiring legal research, depositions, and interviewing witnesses/victims and other parties to ascertain facts. Trial work includes preparation and summation of detailed case work for presentation of cases in jury and non-jury trials, and the examining and cross-examining of witnesses, defendants, and victims.

 

Employment will require professional interaction with the public, law enforcement staff and office staff. Applicant must be able to work independently and as a team member.
