MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in chemistry or biochemistry and three (3) years of professional chemical or biochemical experience; or
A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in chemistry or biochemistry and two (2) years of professional experience as described above; or
A doctorate from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in chemistry or biochemistry.

JOB DUTIES:
Assist with the coordination of the Bureau’s QA/QC program and assist in the monitoring and verification of each location’s implementation of the bureau’s Quality Control Program. Ensure quality measures are being implemented by assisting in the administration of the bureau’s participation in proficiency testing programs whereby proficiency samples are properly and successfully analyzed; confirming that routine quality control procedures are adhered to; be responsible for method compliance and reviewing analyst’s procedures to ensure adherence to adopted methods.
Utilize the bureau's Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to aide in the collection, analysis, review and authorization of analytical results, quality control system and other associated laboratory information and serve as one of the Bureau’s point of contacts for matters relating to the operation of the LIMS.
Be familiar with Florida law as it relates to metrology, petroleum products, antifreeze and brake fluid . Keep up to date with the latest test methods, procedures, equipment changes, and applicable specifications in order to assist management as requested to conduct daily work and act as a contact and technical resource for analysts; assist the laboratories and management on needed specifications, ordering and set up of equipment. This will include writing of specifications and research to determine the maximum efficiency and requirements to perform a given task and to meet appropriate applicable methods.
Assist in the utilization of the Learning Management System (LMS) to aide in the implementation, documentation and monitoring of the Laboratories’ training program, including the creation of training modules and assessment tools.
Be familiar with overall laboratory operations to provide assistance in the analysis of petroleum, anti-freeze and brake fluid products in order to verify compliance with the latest American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and/or state of Florida specifications using the appropriate methods and Standard Operating Procedures. Maintain, calibrate and operate any assigned analytical instrumentation to facilitate accurate and timely sample analyses. Maintain inventory of supplies and parts required to ensure accurate and timely analyses of samples via assigned instrumentation.
Perform other related duties as required by management. Employee may be asked to perform special duties in relation to the Departments Emergency Response Obligations.
