MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

One (1) year of experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, plumbing or mechanical equipment.

Requires possession of a valid Driver License.

NOTES:

This position is located at the Edward L Myrick State Farmers’ Market, 1255 W. Atlantic Boulevard, Office 119, Pompano Beach, FL 33069.

Occasional travel required.

Working hours will be rotated to accomplish tasks which must be performed when buildings are unoccupied during evenings and weekends.

JOB DUTIES:

Maintain market buildings and grounds by mowing and trimming grass, picking up trash, pressure washing, polishing floors, spraying weed and insect killers and caring for shrubs and flowers.

Clean and stock public restrooms daily with necessary supplies. Maintain inventories of market cleaning supplies and supplies for daily maintenance.

Perform minor plumbing maintenance to include repair and/or adjustment of leaks, faucets, toilets, water lines, sewer lines and other sanitary fixtures.

Operate, clean and repair power equipment, tools, vehicles, lawn mowers and other equipment as necessary.

Perform routine maintenance and repairs to heating and air conditioning equipment including air filters, belts, and cleaning.

Perform minor electrical maintenance to include repair and/or replacement of light fixtures, switches, ballasts, outlets, wiring, bulbs, air conditioners, etc.

Paint interior and exterior of market structures. Perform minor repairs of windows, doors, and locks.

Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • General principles of carpentry, electricity and plumbing.
  • Skill in using hand, power and bench tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
