This position requires a valid Class E driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department's Drivers Record Requirements Policy. An unacceptable driving record is defined as any of the following:
- three (3) or more moving violations in the past 3 years that accumulate 3 or more points per violation;
- any 2 convictions of reckless driving in the past 3 years;
- a suspension or revocation of the driver license for moving violations in the past 3 years; and
- a suspension or revocation for refusal to take a sobriety test, or any suspension or revocation for a DUI conviction in the past 4 years
Your driving record will be reviewed and the status of your driver license confirmed.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Supports and maintains all toll equipment within their assigned Toll Region and the primary analyst for all toll maintenance issues within the region. Analyze and attempt to resolve operating and service complaints pertaining to performance of equipment.
Coordinates with the Central Repair Depot (CRD) to perform Depot Level Maintenance (testing, removing and installing, repairing and modifying of components removed from the toll plazas/lanes). Conduct factory provided upgrades for system modifications and such upgrades can include replacement of obsolete parts, firmware chip sets and other individual components within the subassemblies.
Performs continuous review of systems data in order to maintain the overall toll equipment system. Instructs and consult with technicians on complex repair problems. It requires the reading of electrical schematics and the replacement of electronic and electromechanical parts to repair/maintain the toll equipment operating condition. Responsible for ordering parts from CRD and researching replacements for obsolete or hard to find parts.
Provides training to all new employees through the process of On-The -Job Training (OJT) and performs refresher or proficiency training in order to ensure all field personnel maintain their skill levels within the region assigned. This training will consist of providing toll systems overview, plaza procedures, technician responsibilities, region overview, and understanding of the major toll sub-systems i.e. Automatic Vehicle Identification, Automatic Vehicle Classification, Violation Enforcement System, & Closed Circuit TeleVision.
Performs Preventative Maintenance: this involves frequent inspections, including cleaning and adjustments of basic elements of equipment such as switches, connectors, relay contacts, printers, cameras. Diagnose, test and repair assemblies and components of all toll equipment within the region.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to read and interpret complex schematics, parts/wiring diagrams; Ability to establish test procedures; Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; Skilled in the use of volt/amp meters, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, network analyzers and basic hand tools; Ability to recognize components; Skilled in reading and interpreting technical documents including wiring schematics and equipment manuals; Knowledge of computer networks principals and computer repair; Knowledge of electronic theory and practical applications; Knowledge of a Maintenance Management System; Skilled in oral and written communication; Ability to work at a height of thirty(30) feet; Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds
OTHER JOB RELATED REQUIREMENTS: A Class E Driver's license is required. The incumbent must remain available to work during off-duty periods.
