Salary Range: $54,000.18

The FDVA Nursing State Veterans’ Nursing Homes and Domiciliary are designated employment sites for the Nursing Student Loan Forgiveness Program.

  • From funds available, the program may make nursing education loan repayments of up to $4,000.00 per year, per nurse enrolled in the program, for a maximum of four years.
  • Payment is made at the end of each 12-month enrollment period and made directly to the participant’s lender.
  • Enrollment and payment of awards is based on available funds.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Florida.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR.)
  • Successful completion of the due diligence process to include, but not limited to, a Level II background check and drug test.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Experience in a long-term health care environment (nursing home; skilled nursing; or assisted living facility).
  • Experience in infection control.
  • Experience in staff education.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The incumbent will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a written framework of staff educational plan that promotes the growth and development of its licensed and unlicensed staff.  Establish and maintain an Infection Control program designed to provide a safe, sanitary and comfortable environment and to help prevent the development and transmission of disease and infection in the facility through monitoring and coordination with the medical team.

Develop, coordinate and monitor facility orientation and continuing education program, including preparation of comprehensive curriculum, pre- and post-testing materials, scheduling, and recordkeeping requirements.

Identify, analyze, and provide training for individualized needs identified as a result of posttest/performance monitoring.

Monitor facility infection control program, including employee health, as well as execution of all recordkeeping requirements.

Arrange and conduct orientation classes for all newly hired personnel.

Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.  Maintain current certification in Basic Life Support, and perform this skill when necessary.

Research and development of regularly updated resource guide of professional training opportunities available to facility personnel.
