Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position is located in the Dental Unit of the St. Lucie County Health Department and function under the guidance and leadership of the Dental Director.  This is work providing Dental Hygiene Services or conducting preventative and educational Dental Health Programs. The incumbent will provide preventive dental services to children including oral health assessments, oral hygiene instructions, sealants and fluoride.

This is a highly responsible, professional position that requires effective communication with coworkers and parents to provide oral health education with children, organization of paperwork for data entry, entering clinical services into Dental software (Dentrix).

 

This is work promoting, maintaining, and improving individual oral health by providing preventive dental services, oral health education within the dental clinics in St Lucie County.

Working as a team and utilizing expertise as a dental hygienist providing preventive dental services at the dental clinics within St Lucie County 

Assisting with preparing orders and inventory control as needed

Maintaining records and entering clinical services into Dentrix

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of dental hygiene and public health principles, practices, and techniques. 
  • Ability to work with clients and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to plan and evaluate services provided.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Skill in computer software application.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • Licensed as a Dental Hygienist, as required in Chapter 466 Florida Statutes
  • Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
