Your Specific Responsibilities:
This is a senior community health nursing position functioning as a Registered Nurse in the health clinic and immunization clinic.
Provides nursing services autonomously in health department clinics and throughout St. Lucie County which includes nursing assessments, case management, medication issuance and administration, documenting in the electronic health record and referrals to other community resources as needed. This position will work in the public health nursing programs in Family Planning, RN protocol, STD testing and treatment, immunization clinics, adult health/ Primary Care, and TB as needed. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Assistant Community Health Nursing Director. This position will provide services to clients at the clinic on 5150 NW Milner Drive, PSL, FL; 1701 S 23rd St. Fort Piece, FL; and 531 NW Lake Whitney Place, PSL, FL.
This position is responsible for providing counseling and testing on STDs, HIV and Family Planning options including birth control, pregnancy testing and counseling. Assists physicians and APRN in clinic settings, interviews clients, obtains clients health history, and performs nursing assessments with referrals as indicated. This position will provide case management and referrals to other community resources as needed. Autonomously runs the RN Protocol schedule. Performs related duties in the laboratory and other tests which includes drawing blood, interprets physician’s recommendations to clients, education, provides case management and follow up as required. Documents nursing assessments for clients which include interviewing, counseling, health education, STD testing, and STD treatment in the clinic. Assists with referrals to private physicians and to outside agencies. This position performs generalized public health work for STD in an area geographically removed from direct supervision. Conducts field investigations and drives own car or agency car throughout the county. Record searches as well as follow-up on sex partners and infected patients.
Update records in Florida Shots, Process 680 requests, Complete College Vaccine Forms, PPD Testing, HMS visit/Screening for TB Gold Lab Tests. Employee Vaccinations, Religious Exemption Vaccine Education, and issuance of Religious Exemption Forms. Schedule Return Vaccination appointments, provide Back up for EPI clients (Tdap, Rabies vaccines, Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B vaccines) and assists with outbreak response. Promotes vaccine adherence, education and outreaches in community settings, and conducts educational presentations as requested autonomously. Drives company car to outreaches throughout St. Lucie County. Participate in Back-to-school summer events if needed. Maintains vaccine refrigerator temperature logs and monitors for discrepancies.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment as it relates to state guidelines. Adheres to client confidentiality, universal precautions and county health department guidelines as defined in the guidebook and local policies. Communicates regularly with supervisor. May be required to work more than an 8-hour day or weekend with flextime to be provided. Assists with ordering and receiving medical and clinic supplies, maintaining inventory management of medical/clinic supplies, stocks and distributes supplies to clinic rooms as needed. Participates in nursing meetings, CHD meetings, and in educational trainings. Completes required TRAIN and You Call the Shots trainings. Maintains licensure and CPR certification. Performs related work as required and Other added duties.
Work Teen Zone on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 2:00-6:00 and flex schedule if needed.

ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and clients, ability to bend, walk, lift, sit and stand for extended periods of time, ability to conduct nursing/job duties in field settings to include all areas of all neighborhoods.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- Willing to work doing and beyond normal work hours in the event of an emergency
- Current, active Florida Nursing License or a multistate license from another Compact State
- Valid driver’s License (position requires driving your own and/or a state vehicle to different locations
- One year of nursing experience
- Current CPR Certification
