This is an in-office position and not a remote eligible role.
This is professional work supervising the activities of a Protective Investigation Unit composed of protective investigators, human service counselors and clerical staff. The unit is responsible for investigating all new reports of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Supervises the protective investigation responsibilities of Protective Investigators within a geographic area and job responsibilities described above. This includes report assignment; consultation regarding investigative activities for emergency shelter placement, casework services, family/victim assessment, determine risks and services needs; court reports and recommendations; review and approval of activities as recorded in the investigative record and FPSS computer systems; evaluates staff performance record and sets goals, informally on an on-going basis and formally on an annual basis, or as required by personnel regulations.
Supervises the clerical responsibilities of staff to determine that the clerical functions of the unit are completed. These functions include computer checks, logging and setting up records, typing: reports from both handwritten and dictated material, various required forms, record management sheets, mileage for investigators and supervisor, letters, and memoranda; copying reports, letters, etc.; filing records; assisting with receptionist duties for the building; taking messages for investigators; initiating client information forms, etc.
Acts as liaison with other state agencies as well as county, city, and federal organizations which provide services to abused adults. This includes arranging speakers and providing training on adult abuse upon request, as well as discussing and trying to resolve any problems which develop between the Department and other agencies.
Oversees and encourages cooperation between the Department, State Attorney's Office, and law enforcement.
Provides factual, statistical, and sociological information to be used in speeches, reports, and newspaper articles.
Evaluates and selects individuals for employment in the unit.
Provides orientation training to new investigators and ongoing training for new and experienced investigators through regular staff meetings, individual conferences, and arrangement of staff training experience.
Prepares and supervises the preparation of statistical reports as required, Employee Performance Appraisals, CIS and FPSS processing and all other necessary reporting systems.
Monitors mileage reports as well as time and attendance reports.
Prepares reports and monitors unit goals and objectives.
Attends training sessions, supervisor's meetings, and individual conferences with supervisor.
Complies with and monitors compliance (when applicable) of the mandatory requirements of Section 215.422, F.S., and Chapter 3A-24 of the Florida Administrative Code.
Performs other related duties as required.
