Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma and two years of post-high school experience in wildlife, fisheries, environmental, ecological or related agriculture or construction is required. Vocational training or an associate’s degree in wildlife, fisheries, environmental, ecological or related agriculture or construction from an accredited school or college may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Preference may be given to candidates with the following qualifications:
Experience with data collection
Experience communicating with the public
Requirements:
Employment in this position is contingent upon a satisfactory Level 1 background check at no cost to the candidate.
Must be at least 18 years old
Must be able to operate boats, motors, and trailers
Must be proficient in safely and independently operating boat/outboard motor, launching/retrieving, maneuvering and holding position close to other boats, trailer towing and backing down boat ramp.
Must acquire Florida boater safety training and a CPR certification.
Creel shifts are scheduled via random selection, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Shifts will be conducted 10 days a month. Each shift will be 5 hours with the earliest shift being 7am - 12pm and the latest shift being from 1pm - 6pm.
Job duration: November – June 2024 (7 months)
Position Overview and Responsibilities:
Job duties include the monitoring of fishing effort of Lake Talquin. This position will interview anglers on the water while operating a boat, asking specific questions about their catch and harvest of freshwater fish species. This position is responsible for accurately recording detailed survey data. Surveys are conducted in sometimes inclement weather, including heat, cold, wind, and rain. The incumbent will be responsible for operating FWC vehicles and vehicles for FWC business only and in a safe and law-abiding manner

Ability to trailer, launch, and safely operate boats up to 20 ft in length
Ability to effectively communicate with the public
Ability to maintain professionalism and appropriately represent agency

Ability to safely operate vehicles
Ability to work in inclement weather
