Senior Clerk – F/C (Duty Warden) –70009617

 

This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Lawtey Correctional Institution in the Duty Warden’s Office (Major’s Office).

 

Salary: $33,760.22 annually

 

SALARY WILL BE APPLIED IN ACCORDANCE WITH PAY POLICY. THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE APPOINTED AT THE ABOVE LISTED APPOINTMENT RATE.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with all aspects of the formal grievance process. Assigns grievance number and classifies. Types response obtains signatures and distributes within time limit. Maintains log of all formal grievances.
  • Provides advanced secretarial services in preparation of official correspondence and departmental documentation. Takes and transcribes minutes of various meetings. Types and proofreads daily correspondence. Maintains appropriate files and records. Acts as office receptionist. Receives and distributes mail orders office supplies. Inputs various monthly reports.
  • Performs general office duties for the Institutional Inspector and Sergeant assigned to the Inspector’s Office as needed.
  • Performs Staff Assistant’s duties in his/her absence.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar usage.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of basic filing practices.
  • Skills in typing.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Knowledge of standard business formats and styles for letters and business forms.
  • Knowledge of office procedures.
  • Knowledge of the techniques for handling telephone calls in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Ability to transcribe dictation using notes or a dictating machine.
  • Ability to organize files and other records.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetical calculations.
  • Ability to use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Ability to type letters, memoranda, and other standard business forms in correct format.
  • Ability to handle telephone calls in a courteous and effective manner.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent
