The Work You Will Do:

Assist both Universal and Migrant and Seasonal FarmWorker (MSFW) populations with EmployFlorida work registration and referral to appropriate community referrals based on service needs.  

Assist job-candidates with résumé completion or updating existing résumé for format and content and provide career counseling for job-candidates with job expectations; Determine transferrable skills and assist with applying to existing job opportunities using the EmlpoyFlorida website. Direct visitors to meetings held in the Center, escort customers to appropriate area for services or meetings; direct job seeker with information to the resource room or to other area services.  Assist job candidates in a resource room computer lab setting with computer, fax, copier, and telephone usage for job search activities; Assess individual's needs for additional services and provide appropriate support services or workshops referrals as needed. Provide tracking information for management and assist with completing required data entry of information for State of Florida reporting and performance metrics.

Your Specific Responsibilities:
Ensure full compliance with state, federal or local policy of entering staff assisted services codes and documentation recorded in EmployFlorida. 
Assess customer needs to determine the eligibility of applicants and provide referrals to services such as, Migrant Seasonal Farm Workers Services (MSFW), Veteran Employment Services, Trade Adjustment Act (TAA) offered regionally, Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA), Welfare Transition (WT), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Federal Bonding, In-House Hiring Events, etc.
Monitor performance and production reports to ensure that relevant performance standards are met.  Develop and maintain contact with resources within community groups and local organization engaged in providing counseling and/or rehabilitative services.
Provide individualized and/or group counseling/case management services to customers in the One-Stop Center using standardized counseling techniques which will assist customers in deciding vocational goals and employability plans for entrance into employment. Interview and assess customers for job readiness through aptitudes, interests, personal characteristics, education, and work history. Provide various services, including intake and assessment, counseling, testing, job search assistance, referral, and placement. Promote One-Stop Center services and programs throughout the community via telephone contact, job fairs and/or visits to employers, community organizations, and public and private agencies. Determine eligibility for and/or participation in special programs and coordinate services 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point). 
Ability to use various virtual platforms. 
Knowledge of the methods of data collection.
Knowledge of the principles of techniques of effective customer service and the ability to provide excellent customer service.
Knowledge of Employ Florida and other web-based self-help products.
Knowledge of Wagner-Peyser/Employ Florida and other related Department of Economic Opportunity programs.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in individual and group settings, both verbally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous, and effective manner.

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state and national law enforcement records.  
Minimum –
•    Successful completion of the Florida Certified Workforce Professional Tier 1 training within 12 months of hire. 
•    Required to travel locally within the region and must furnish own transportation.
•    Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department. 
Preferred –

  • Bilingual Spanish/English
  • Migrant and Seasonal Farmworker experience
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.  Professional or nonprofessional experience in employment security, counseling or administrative experience.  May substitute for the preferred college education on a year-four-year basis.
