FSDB SALARY RANGE - 260 Days:  $26,540.54 - $31,040.54 annually.  This range is inclusive of verified experience and education.

 

PREFERRED:  Professional household experience; Supervisory experience; Knowledge of OSHA Safety Standards; Experience ordering supplies/managing inventory.

 

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:  Applicants under consideration for employment at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind will be required to complete background investigation.  Fingerprints will be taken and sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for a background check of your criminal history record(s) at the state and national level.

 

WORK LOCATION: Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, 207 North San Marco Avenue, St. Augustine, Florida

 

WORK HOURS:  Monday – Thursday 1:00pm – 9:30pm / Friday 11:30am – 8:00pm; Schedule is at least 80 hours biweekly. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position reports to the Assistant Director of Facilities and is responsible for planning, organizing, and developing the operation of the housekeeping and laundry department in accordance with federal, state and local standards and guidelines. Responsible for staffing, scheduling, training and developing hourly staff.  Supervises the daily activities of Housekeeping employees to include appropriate cleaning of all offices, restrooms/bathrooms, classrooms, dorms, meeting spaces, and all public spaces.  Plans, organizes, and directs team members to ensure the highest degree of customer satisfaction as well as schedules and assigns staff for the efficient use of manpower and other resources for day-to-day activities as well as for scheduled events.  Ensures proper preparation and staffing for each event.  Provides daily supervision of the housekeeping staff, including the day, event and post-event crews. Provides billing summaries and expenses for pre and post events. Purchases, evaluates, re-orders, and maintains housekeeping supplies and inventory.  Plans and works within the housekeeping budget. Recruits, schedules and trains new housekeeping staff members.  Establishes training programs for staff and tracks success of these programs through inspections and follow-up reviews. Upholds the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and conduct. Enforce OSHA and safety standards within the department.  Ensures the proper maintenance of all equipment by making full use of the Facilities Departmemts' CMMS and makes arrangements for repair and/or replacement of used and damaged equipment.   Performs daily building inspections for each facility to inspect employees work to ensure quality standards are met, and documents same for weekly review. Assists as needed.  Publicly recognizes staff. Makes termination recommendations.  Follows and teaches all required safety and standard operating procedures.  Adheres to all FSDB and regulatory policies. Provides coaching and team building exercises when areas of concern are identified.  In the absence of the daytime supervisor provides supervision for the daily activities of the Laundry/Linen Department to include fiscal management of the costs and expenses in the operation of same. Purchases, evaluates  re-orders and maintains laundry/linen supplies and inventory. Plans and works within the laundry/linen budget. Supervises the upkeep and preventative maintenance of the laundry equipment through the CMMS. Produces weekly reporting for Operations, Key Indicators, and Human Resource Functions. Oversee regulatory compliance.  Other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Knowledge of effective cleaning techniques; Knowledge of cleaning materials and supplies; Knowledge of computer use; Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices; Ability to conduct inspections of buildings for cleanliness; Ability to determine work priorities; Ability to assign work and ensure proper completion of assignments; Ability to develop short and long range plans and goals for the efficient use of resources; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; Ability to maintain accurate records; Ability to requisition, distribute and monitor  the use of supplies and materials; Ability to supervise people and to utilize problem solving techniques; Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures; Ability to plan, organize and direct the activities of staff; Ability to plan and maintain budget needs; Ability to train and motivate employees; Ability to develop efficient work schedules for staff; Skilled in effective communications both oral and written; Ability to complete training and administer skills acquired in CPR.
