Human Services Program Consultant I

This is a new Fathers Services position inthe Healthy Start program. The incumbent ewill provide mentoring and parenting education to expectant and new fathers enrolled in the Healthy Start program.  This position requires using independent judgement to provide the following:

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Establish a trusting relationship with culturally diverse families by initiating and maintaining regular client contact. 
  • Provide Case Management to expectant fathers and fathers who are referred to Healthy Start.
  • Provide face to face contact with clients in their residence or other location.
  • Provide Parenting Education one on one with Fathers and Expectant Fathers
  • Document all client contact information in the web-based computer application known as the Well Family System
  • Provide referrals to community resources to supplement Healthy Start services.
     

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Experience in Counseling techniques and strategies
  • Experience working with men, fathers and/or children.
  • Problem solving skills related to advancing client self-sufficiency.
  • Ability to work well with others as a team.
  • Computer skills: competency and experience.
  • Experience in interviewing and assessing to determine the needs of the client.
  • Knowledge of community resources.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum-

  • One year experience working with families.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License

 

Preferred-

  • Three years working with families
  • One year home visiting experience
  • One to 3 years case management experience.
  • Associates Degree
