Senior Public Health Nutritionist

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Certifies clients for participation in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC Program) according to the WIC Manual DHM 150-24.  Provides nutrition counseling, education and follow-up services to WIC Program clients.  Promotes and supports breastfeeding among WIC clients.  Develops nutrition care plans and documents information in WIC data system.  Follows policies and procedures for collection, entry and management of data as well as operation of the WIC data system (FL WiSE) according to the WIC User Manual for clinic.

Develops high risk nutrition care plans for medical high-risk clients and high-risk clients.  Assures scheduling of follow-up counseling sessions. Performs anthropometric duties to include hemoglobin as needed.

Provides group nutrition education classes to WIC participants as needed.

Designs nutrition educational materials for use in the WIC Program.

Assists with training of new WIC nutrition staff in the certification and counseling process.  Assists with the development and evaluation of the nutrition program plan and other documents as needed for the WIC Program.

Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.  This includes the following in addition to other tasks assigned:  Attends meetings and seminars as needed for the WIC Program.  Completes EARs reports, nutrition education activity reports, etc.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of normal nutrition principles and food needs throughout the life cycle.

Ability to determine nutritional needs and nutrition education plans for individuals who are and are not at medical high nutritional risk.

Ability to provide nutrition education to others in groups or individual instruction.

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum-

Florida State Licensure as a Dietitian/Nutritionist

Preferred -

At least 1 year of WIC experience

Ability to fluently speak, read, and write in English and Spanish

Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends
