Class Title: ASSISTANT COMM HEALTH NURSING DIRECTOR Reclassing to Senior Community Health Nursing Supervisor 

Base Salary: $60,000 – $65,000 annually

This position will be responsible for day-to-day supervisory activities in the DOH-Seminole clinic. The clinic is responsible for administering DOH-Seminole’s Family Planning, Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) and HIV programs, School Physicals, and Immunizations.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Community Health Nursing Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision and management of nursing staff, administrative staff, and daily activities pertaining to the clinic and Patient Portal. The incumbent will develop and implement policies and procedures for the clinic and complete Family Planning and HMS reports as directed. They will also conduct continuous quality improvement activities to ensure clinical measures are being met and assess and respond to budgetary needs. Quality improvement initiatives may exam outcomes in the Title X/family Planning Program, Immunizations Program and Breast & Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (BCCEDP). This position will step in to provide direct nursing care to patients as needed.  

The Senior Community Health Nursing Supervisor will also review and approve leave and attendance records. They will approve requests for annual (vacation time), sick, compensatory time, over time, administrative, leave with and/or without pay time and flexible work schedules. Ensures adherence to State procedures, HIPPA guidelines, protects the rights and confidentiality of clients, and maintains the integrity of the agency and clients. Additionally, they will review and communicate DOH policies, protocols, and procedures relating to information security, and confidentiality.

Under the direction of the Executive Community Health Nursing Director, this position’s duties also include communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets.

 

The Senior Community Health Nursing Supervisor will plan one-on-one staff meetings, conference attendance (when applicable), continuing education opporutnties, and  trainings and in-services. This position will also work with relevant staff to assit with orientation for new employees, and participate in outreach events throughout the year to promote DOH-Seminole services and perform other related duties assigned to support the mission of the Florida Department of Health.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of medical terminology, principles, and analytical techniques of interviewing; data collection and analysis principles and procedures. Knowledge of advanced nursing principles including health assessment, physical exam, and medication prescription. Ability to prepare reports, understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to TB, Refugee Health and other programs as assigned, Ability to understand and follow legislative policy direction as established in Federal and Florida Statutes; Ability to provide customer service in a tactful and courteous manner; work independently, plan, organize and coordinate work assignments, communicate effectively, establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; Skilled in critical thinking and problem solving techniques; Computer skills including word processing, data entry and sending and reviewing emails.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 or 8.27

 

  • Valid BLS Certification

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited higher education institution.

 

  • Knowledge of and skill in using Health Management System (HMS) and the Florida State Health Online Tracking System (FL SHOTS).

 

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
