Florida Department of Health in Seminole County is looking for a self-motivated, hardworking individual to fill our Community Health Nurse position located in Sanford, FL.

 

Minimum Qualification

  • Valid state of FLorida Nursing License in good standing
  • Must participate in Emergency Duty

POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

The incumbent for this position represents the agency and its mission and values. This individual would be would be expected to promote cooperation, courtesy and teamwork, in a diverse environment. Work is performed under the supervision of the Community Health Nursing Supervisor.  The incumbent will perform nursing services to clients in the Family Planning, Sexually Transmitted Disease Program as well as Immunizations and School Health physicals.  The incumbent will also participate in Community outreaches as needed and will work as a team member in meeting the Strategic Objectives of the Clinical Department.

 

Participates in Providing clinical services for Family Planning, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and HIV/AIDS  within the DOH- Seminole County  according to program specific guidelines.  Interviews, counsels, teaches clients and or family members according to the assessed needs and program requirements. Performs the indicated nursing duties and related activities according to policy and procedure. Assists the physician and administers prescribed medication as ordered. May be required to assist in collecting vital signs and client check-in.  Performs pre and post test counseling for clients requesting HIV testing. May also be assigned to assist with clinical services for HIV clients.  Coordinates with other health disciplines such as Immunizations and Breast and Cervical Cancer early Detection Program (BCCEDP)  to provide optimal client care and  follow up services as needed. Completes Electronic Health record documentation.

 

Records/documents  according to Health Department policy and procedure. 

May assist with orientation of  new nursing staff  to clinical nursing services. Documents in Electronic Health Record/chart  according to program compliance. Documents Immunizations in Florida Shots.

 

Participates in quality improvement activities which may include patient record review and audit, clinical team meetings and medication inventory and control.  Identifies and informs supervisor of future clinical needs and opportunities and identifies obstacles and concerns.

Performs other related duties as required. Attends in-services and professional education programs to update clinical knowledge and skills.

 

Prepares or maintains clinic service areas, equipment, supplies, and supporting inventories. Communicates applicable information to clients/families.

Other duties as required including responding to natural disasters and working in Special Needs Shelters.

 

Knowledge, skills and abilities: Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position: Knowledge of: medical terminology; Ability to: communicate effectively; maintain accurate and appropriate medical documentation; administer injectable medications or immunizations; follow medical instructions; successfully complete HIV/AIDs 501 training, PPD training, CPR certification, Immunizations Skills, and Immunization Module Training.

 

Other job-related requirements for this position: Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.  Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.

 

Working Hours: Daily from 8:00am to 5:00pm
