Base Salary: $1641.14 Bi -weekly

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Operations & Management Consultant Manager – SES, this position is responsible for initiating, coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating county-level public health prevention activities for the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County (DOH-Seminole).

This position coordinates daily program activities related to Tobacco Prevention and Cessation, Tobacco-Free Moms & Babies, Florida Healthy Babies, HIV Prevention/PrEP and Sexual Health Education.

The position serves as a liaison between DOH-Seminole and community organizations, healthcare providers, businesses, schools, nonprofit organizations, community coalitions, and other local agencies. Responsibilities include program coordination, work-plan implementation, community engagement, media advocacy, stakeholder exchange and connection, community training and workshops, professional development, fiscal coordination, inventory management, reporting, and partnership development.

The position plans and facilitates community trainings, workshops, presentations, health fairs, special events, awareness campaigns, coalition meetings, and other prevention activities designed to increase knowledge, strengthen partnerships, connect residents with resources, and improve public health outcomes in Seminole County.

Each assigned program incorporates four primary areas of focus:

Media Advocacy – Promoting public health messages, prevention campaigns, awareness activities, and program services through appropriate communication and media strategies.

Stakeholder Exchange & Connection – Building and maintaining relationships with community partners, healthcare providers, organizations, businesses, schools, coalitions, and other agencies while facilitating the exchange of information, resources, referrals, and best practices.

 

Community Engagement, Training & Workshops – Providing community education through trainings, workshops, presentations, health fairs, outreach events, and other activities designed to address identified community health needs.

Professional Growth & Training – Participating in professional development, workshops, webinars, conferences, and other training opportunities to maintain current knowledge and strengthen the delivery of evidence-based public health programs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:

 Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication.

Knowledge of tobacco prevention, resources and use reduction in the areas of cessation, secondhand smoke, and   youth prevention.

 Knowledge of coalition development, building and maintaining partnerships.

 Knowledge of computers, word processing skills and computer applications that will enable individual with oral presentations

Knowledge of office procedures and practices.

Ability to interpret and apply departmental rules, regulations and office procedures.

Ability to work independently, prioritize and organize work assignments with minimal supervision.

Ability to maintain effective working relationship with others.

Requires travel and some weekend and evening hours. This is a tobacco-free position, and a background check will be required.

Skilled in written and oral communications, public speaking is required.
