Class Title: OPS Senior Public Health Nutritionist

Salary:  $30.00 an hour

Location: Florida Department of Health in Seminole County

This is a part time position working nights and weekend 10 to 15 hours per month.

This position does not meet the mininum requirement to participation in state group insurance.

Provides individual nutritional counseling and education to parents and youth in

elementary and middle school, referred by the school health program for

underweight and overweight screening results. Support families in setting and

reaching identified health goals. Completes data entry in HMS and data tracking

systems.

Evaluates the clinical and anthropometric data and dietary histories of children and

families participating in the School Health nutrition referral program. Schedules

appointments with clients needing consultation, reviews screening results,

completes health assessments, provides education and resources, and follows-up

with correspondence and communication with clients. Maintains notes and

accurate data in tracking systems. Ensures client services are provided efficiently

and timely.

Communicates with School Health program manager via e-mails, phone

calls or meetings, regarding client scheduling progress and needed support

Promotes healthy nutrition, physical activity and wellness education. appropriate

educational materials are provided. Provides nutritional counseling support

following professional state and national standards.

Participates and attends virtual or in person staff meeting as needed. Completes

any mandatory trainings and professional development trainings as appropriate.

Accurately completes and submits Employee Activity Reports (EARs) and People

First timesheets by required deadlines.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to maintain an appropriate follow-up contact schedule and complete documentation in SOAP or narrative format. Ability to accurately document services provided and input data into HMS and other tracking systems system. Ability to effectively facilitate education in group or individual setting. Ability to provide evidence- based nutrition and wellness information and education materials. Knowledge of and ability to use the nutrition counseling techniques. Ability to maintain accurate records and ensure timely completion of reports.           Ability to travel to other worksites.

Qualifications:

Minimum

Must be licensed dietitian/nutritionist in the state of Florida.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in dietetics or food and nutrition related subject required.

Verifiable experience developing and implementing nutrition plans based on assessments of clients or patients.

Verifiable experience consulting with Physicians and health care personnel to determine healthcare needs of the clients and patients

Florida Department of Health is required to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs shelter or performing other emergency duties including but not limited to, response to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster man-made or natural
