JOB TITLE:            6441 IT Specialist I

PAY GRADE:          46 – ($40,000 Annually)

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Duties include documenting, troubleshooting, and escalating help desk requests; providing technical support for issues related to computer systems, software and hardware; assisting with network issues; setting up computer equipment including desktops, laptops, tablets, printers and scanners; testing equipment for compatibility within our technical environment; providing training to end users on basic operation of hardware and software systems; researching new technologies and continually seeking to improve efficiency; following up with end users to ensure issues are resolved; setting up and maintaining virtual server infrastructure; assisting managers with high level projects; coordinating equipment deployment projects; assisting and providing guidance to other technicians; and recommending and implementing improvements to current IT systems in various offices; maintaining the functions in the server room environment, including maintenance, equipment, operations, and scripting.

 

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Successful completion of two years of college coursework in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field at an accredited college or university and two years of experience in the fundamental operations of relevant software, hardware, and other equipment including related experience and training in troubleshooting and providing help desk customer service and support.

 

DESIRED SKILLS

The successful candidate must work well with a team and demonstrate the ability to efficiently multitask in a fast-paced environment and present a professional and helpful demeanor at all times.

 

The candidate must also have thorough knowledge of PC hardware and software products; thorough knowledge of network connections; knowledge of PC security issues; ability to promote standardization throughout a large, diverse organization; ability to analyze, diagnose and resolve issues in a timely manner; ability to prioritize tasks effectively; the desire to continually improve technical equipment and policies; the ability to diagnose failures, perform studies and evaluate changes; and be familiar with IT standards, security, and system software.  Experience with Microsoft products, Crystal Reports, and SQL highly desired.
