 A challenging opportunity is available for a self-motivated park service professional to fill an OPS Administrative Assistant position at Grayton Beach State Park.  This position requires a strong visitor service, assists in planning, coordinating and implementing all administrative activities involved in park operations.

Where You Will Work:

Grayton Beach State Park (GBSP) is located in Santa Rosa Beach, in the community of Grayton Beach on Scenic 30A. This Recreation Area manages 2000 acres of land on the Gulf of Mexico. There are 61 campsites with electric, water and sewer plus 15 duplex cabins. The Park has a 1-mile dune nature trail and a 4 ½ mile hiking/biking forest trail. The Park provides 3 miles of white quartz-sand beaches, a home to threatened-endangered sea turtles, shorebirds and dune systems.

Base salary $17.00 per hour.

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

In carrying out the duties of this position, the incumbent is always expected to be aware of and abide by the Department’s Standards of Conduct, as well as any and all departmental and/or work unit rules, directives, policies, procedures, and/or general orders applicable to performing the duties of this position.  Compliance with the processing requirements of Chapter 215.422, F.S. is mandatory.  Persistent failure to comply with this section by any agency of the state shall constitute good cause for discharge of employees duly found responsible, or predominantly responsible, for failure to comply.

 This position assists in planning, coordinating and implementing all administrative activities involved in park operations.

 Performs fiscal tasks, purchasing, and budget tracking duties for Grayton Beach and Deer Lake State Park.  Maintains computerized budget tracking system and reconciles with FLAIR.  Provides related budget reports to the park manager and district.  Assists Park manager in the planning and administration of park contracts, use agreements and permits.  Processes requisitions, bids, and p-card transactions.

 Performs and directs data entry required to maintain park records.  Maintains Park archival and resource files.  Develops management reports and summaries for use in making management decisions and planning park activities, services and resource management.  Monitors and audits park revenue procedures and related reports.  Performs or directs adjustments to the cash register and/or CSR computer as needed.

 Prepares and processes paperwork relating to personnel activities to include leave and attendance, selection and recruitment, employee relations and travel.

 Assists in assuring park compliance with current division policies, procedures and programs.  Over sees and assists in training staff in proper administrative procedures and practices.  Provides recommendations to the park manager for processes and procedures which will promote efficiency and simplify park administrative functions. Attends meetings and training sessions and represents the Park Manager at meetings with division representatives, other agencies and organizations.

 

 Processes technical park correspondence, investigates subject matter, and prepares replies.

 Maintains Park property records.

 Performs other related duties as required.  

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Administrative principles and practices

  • Use of office equipment including computer and related software

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Successful outcome of background and fingerprint checks

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous professional office experience including budget and administrative functions
