Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a responsible professional position providing career counseling and job placement services to a broad range of clients.  Incumbent is to be fully responsive to the clients’ needs for gainful, meaningful employment.

Provide personalized, professional quality service to all clients utilizing the available tools and resources located in CareerSource Suncoast’s Resource Center.  

  • Greet clients, provide guidance regarding appropriate use of Resource Center.
  • Provide new clients with a general orientation to CareerSource Suncoast services. 
  • Monitor and provide technical assistance to clients. 
  • Ensure clients are fully registered in Employ Florida (EF) and that they understand the benefits of full registration.
  • Provide assistance to clients accessing Employ Florida (EF), other job search websites, tutorials, assessment tools and other computer software resources available to clients.
  •  Provide assistance with scanning, faxing, copying and other equipment available within the Resource Center.  (Excludes repair and mechanics of equipment.)
  •  Provide instructions to clients after completion of job search activities.. Conduct initial employability assessments with new clients to identify potential barriers, career interests, and requested assistance.  
  • Refer clients to job openings, training opportunities and other employment related services within the One-Stop provide labor market information to assist with career choices.
  • Refer clients to community resources for appropriate employment related services and/or available supportive services through these sources as well as other programs, i.e. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and Veteran programs.
  • Conduct follow up on job referrals provided to customers.
  • Record and monitor client interaction and contact daily by entering service codes and case notes into Employ Florida (EF)
  • Perform applicant searches on job orders and notify qualified applicants.
  • Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of all updated job search tools, policies, standards and procedures.
  • Maintain all updated materials and resources available to the clients within the Resource Center.
  • Regularly provide front desk coverage to include assessing client needs, then providing direct instruction and information, appropriate points of contact, and additional resources in person and via telephone.
  • Conduct Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessments (RESEAs) for selected reemployment assistance claimants, to include a full orientation to CareerSource Suncoast services and the development of an Individual Employment Plan (IEP). Open center every morning including setting up computers for client use and observing any equipment or building issues.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned in a seamless service delivery system within LWDB 18.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures. 
  • Ability to prepare correspondence relating to an employment security program. 
  • Ability to maintain records and prepare reports. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others. 
  • Ability to conduct interviews and investigations. 
  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous and effective manner.
  • Ability to work independently.

  • Competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Ability to maintain and update Outlook calendar daily and share calendar.
  • Ability to effectively conduct Google searches and similar; diagnose for best results vs. scams, etc.
  • Basic competency in social media (i.e. LinkedIn) including profile creation and regular monitoring.
  • Ability to use a personal computer for communication, documentation, reporting and data collection.

 

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.

Minimum:

  • Incumbent must take and pass the Florida Certified Workforce Professional Tier I certification within one (1) year of hire date.  Subsequent to the attainment of the initial certification, incumbent must complete 15 hours of continuing education credits per year in order to remain certified.
  • Incumbent may be required to travel locally and must furnish own transportation.

Preferred:

  • Professional or nonprofessional experience in areas related to employment security –interviewing, counseling, job placement, aptitude testing and assessments, job development, or job analysis
  • High school diploma or GED

 

Pay:

$44,308.08 annually
