Your Specific Responsibilities:

 

  1. Case Management
    1. Assist in case management services to HIV clients not eligible for Ryan White Funding.
    2. Collaborates with the Ryan White Case Managers.
    3. Coordinates referrals to internal departments and/or community agencies to ensure clients receive needed services.
    4. Conducts client-centered HIV Preexposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) education. Assist PrEP clients with enrollment into medication assistance programs and schedule appointments with health care providers.
    5. Coordinates with providers for laboratory tests and prescription orders.
    6. Collects data in preparation for PrEP services. 
    7. Will carry a caseload and will conduct follow-up calls and appointments to address adherence to medication.
    8. Participates in outreach activities in partnership with HIV/Acquired immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS)/Disease Control representatives and community partners to promote PrEP education and services.
  2. Routine Health Support functions
    1. Prepares client for clinic visit; performs measurements for height, weight, temperature, medical history, and enters the information into the client’s chart.
    2. Assists physicians with patient care, treatments, and procedures; Sets up trays and instruments for procedures, passes instrument as needed.
    3. Assists with client routing in the clinic area.  Maintains optimum clinic flow by preparing exam rooms and directing clients to various stations.  Identifies problems and seeks solutions in concert with clinic staff.
    4. Prepares inventories and helps with ordering supplies and Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) devices following the SCHD guidelines. Processes reconciliation of received orders to ensure accuracy and accountability. 
    5. Laboratory support services per protocol, or as instructed by provider, supervisor and/or professional staff.
    6. Completes laboratory specimen collection and prepares specimens for in-house or outside laboratory analysis (includes urine, capillary and venous blood); assists in labeling and processing specimens obtained by providers.
    7. Performs in-house laboratory testing; including Venipunctures, urinalysis, hemoglobin, and pregnancy tests as needed.
    8. Prepares laboratory specimens for Ringling, State Lab, and commercial laboratory as needed.
    9. Anticipates and communicates deficiencies with supervisor.
    10. Prepares and submits reports needed for state program requirements.
  1. Routine clerical support functions
    1. Admissions
      1. Monitor the admission processes ensuring adequate staffing and flow
      1. Update the computer database with the current demographic and personal information and insurance information.
      2. Ensure that the proper documentation is obtained from the patient
    1. Appointments
      1. Uses the Health Management System (HMS) system to appoint appropriate time slots to patients
      1. Verifies all demographic and insurance information before securing appointment slot
      2. Assists appointment clerk when backed up or overflow

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of clinical procedures

Qualifications:

Minimum –

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certification as a medical assistant
  • One to three years of experience as a medical assistant
  • One to three years of phlebotomy experience

 

Preferred –

  • Certification by the American Association of Medical Assistants, The American Medical Technologists, or the National Center for Competency Testing
  • Experience providing case management services
  • Experience managing and completing medication prior authorizations
  • Bilingualism
