Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Clerical Support for Specimen Collection
    • Review client documentation
    • Ensure site is stocked, set-up, and broken down as necessary
    • Manage client registration
  • COVID Call Center
    • Take phone calls related to COVID-19 received on the hotline
    • Utilize Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and County Health Department (CHD) guidelines to respond to inquiries, and refer callers to appropriate staff as necessary
    • Document calls  
  • Appointment Scheduling
    • Schedule appointments for COVID-19 testing sites
    • Provide client with registration and testing appointment instructions
    • Document calls
  • Other Duties
    • Provide coverage as needed for other DOH-Sarasota staff
    • Assist with other COVID-19 response activities as assigned by Supervisor/ Supervisor Designee, including registration, crowd and traffic control, safety monitoring, and other non-medical duties
    • Perform related work as required

 

The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County has county-owned fleet vehicles available for use while conducting support for COVID-19 response activities. However, you will be required to utilize your personal vehicle at times with mileage reimbursed per Florida Statute Chapter 112.061.

 

You must be willing and able to handle and transport COVID-19 specimens.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to lift (up to) 50 pounds, move around freely, and frequently bend, kneel, reach, sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to follow medical instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to learn and utilize approved DOH abbreviations when documenting in electronic medical records
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including after normal working hours, holidays, and weekends 
  • Ability to work in all types of weather, including extreme heat, rain, high humidity, and other adverse conditions
     

Qualifications:

  • Valid Florida driver's license

Where You Will Work:

Headquarters will be 2200 Ringling Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34237.

However, incumbent will be required to work in North and/or South County DOH-Sarasota offices, as well as to provide coverage at various testing sites throughout the county.
