Position Overview and Responsibilities:

An exciting opportunity is available for an OPS  Maintenance Superintendent with good communication skills to fill the position at Myakka River State Park. This position requires an individual with good supervisory and customer service skills, as well as team building skills. This position also requires knowledge, skills and abilities in facilities and equipment maintenance (both park specific and district equipment pool.)

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Compliance with the processing requirements of Chapter 215.422, F.S. is mandatory. Persistent failure to comply with this section by any agency of the state shall constitute good cause for discharge of employees duly found responsible, or predominantly responsible, for failure to comply.

 

MAINTENANCE:  Supervises and monitors the performance of staff, providing training as appropriate.  Keeps abreast of maintenance needs and repairs or supervises/schedules staff in the repairs and maintenance of park equipment including, but not limited to vehicles, tractors, implements, welding, mowers, chainsaws, compressors, pumps and motors, air conditioners, tools.  Operates all park maintenance equipment.  Conducts safety inspections.  Trains staff on proper operation, maintenance and repair of equipment.

 

ADMINISTRATION:  Prepares maintenance logs, schedules. reviews and approves time sheets, completes purchasing documentation.   Performs purchasing as necessary to secure materials for repair, maintenance and upkeep of park equipment and vehicles.  Attends training sessions to increase proficiency in work-related areas.  Maintains safety records and trains others in safe use of equipment.

 

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT: Repair and performs maintenance on resource management-related equipment including wildland fire engines, tractors and associated implements, airboat, ATV, UTV, swamp buggy, tracked and wheeled skid steers.

 

Performs other related duties as required

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of  the principles and techniques of mechanical repair work; safety procedures required in maintenance and repair work of rolling stock; operational and maintenance needs of PTO and drawn tractor implements.  Skill in troubleshooting and resolving problems in diesel and gasoline-powered equipment; performing welding repairs; preventative maintenance procedures for motorized equipment including diesel tractors, boats, and off-road vehicles; plumbing, carpentry and electrical repairs to structures.  Ability to: maintain effective relationships with others; identify and resolve repair needs of buildings and equipment; read blueprints and electronics schematics; operate a variety of hand tools, power tools and PTO driven implements; operate a variety of motorized equipment;  prioritize and ensure proper completion of work; train others in the proper use of tools and motorized equipment; perform safety inspections and adhere to maintenance schedules; maintain a valid driver’s license.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Valid Driver’s license. 

 

 

Preferred Qualification:

CDL License/Class A

 

 

Pay:

$19 per hour
