            The person in this position will be reporting to and assisting a registered pharmacist in the preparation and distribution of pharmaceuticals in a County Health Department.   He/she will work under the supervision of the pharmacy manager. He/she will be responsible for the distribution of prescribed medications and performing such technical functions as receiving, packaging, labeling, recording, and obtaining information from clients. Selected immunizations are a prerequisite for this position. He/She works under the professional guidance of the pharmacy manager.





  • A Valid Florida driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation
  • Licensure as a Pharmacy Technician in accordance with F.S. 465
  • Selected immunizations (MMWR Vol. 46/No.RR-18)
  • Participation in the direct deposit program within 30 days of employment as mandated per Florida Statute 110.113, 96-310, Laws of Florida
  • A high school diploma or GED is a minimum education requirement.
  • Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.  Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.





  • Performs pharmacy technician functions according to established standards and supervisor’s instructions.  He/she assists the pharmacist in receiving, correctly packaging, labeling, and distribution of prescribed medications to patients.  He/she initiates filling and prepackaging of pharmacy drugs daily as required and accurately enters clients Medicaid, prescription, physician, drug, and other pharmacy related information into the computer terminal.  He/she performs clerical/technical duties relating to the CUSE program.


  • Performs direct client services to each pharmacy encounter as instructed by the pharmaceutical program manager.  He/she verifies the clients pay plan, Medicaid eligibility and reviews patients data for accuracy and completeness.  He/she reviews patients records for each new/refill prescription presented for dispensing and obtains patients know allergies, drug reactions and related data. 


  • He/She performs other support services such as: Organizing, ordering and maintaining records of all pharmacy supplies and inventory and restocks such on a daily basis or as needed.


  • He/She performs other technical duties while maintaining the pharmacy areas in a clean and orderly manner at all times utilizing all necessary safety precautions.   He/She willingly participates in special projects as assigned by the pharmacist on duty or the pharmaceutical program manager.
