Your Specific Responsibilities:

The person in this position will be reporting to and assisting a registered pharmacist in the preparation and distribution of pharmaceuticals in a County Health Department.   This individual will work under the supervision of the pharmacy manager. This person will be responsible for the distribution of prescribed medications and performing such technical functions as receiving, packaging, labeling, recording, and obtaining information from clients. Selected immunizations are a prerequisite for this position. This incumbent works under the professional guidance of the pharmacy manager.

Performs direct client services to each pharmacy encounter as instructed by the pharmaceutical program manager.  The incumbent receives the physical prescription from the patient from the intake window, verifies patient eligibility and insurance data. Verifies patient information for accuracy and completeness. This individual will hand the medication to the patient at the time of pick up, collecting signatures. The incumbent will also cull pick up bins and remove bags that have not been picked up by patients and give to pharmacy staff to return to stock.  Additionally, this person will collect any money from patients that is due to the pharmacy and provide all accounting, reports and information regarding thereof.

Performs other support services such as: Organizing, ordering, and maintaining records of all pharmacy supplies and inventory and restocks such daily or as needed.     

This individual performs other technical duties while always maintaining the pharmacy areas in a clean and orderly manner utilizing all necessary safety precautions.   This incumbent willingly participates in special projects as assigned by the pharmacist on duty or the pharmaceutical program manager.    

Performs other duties as necessary and attends in staff development activities such as staff meetings and in-service education, as well as emergency duties for disaster response.
