What you will do:

The Behavioral Health Integration Specialist position serves an integral role in supporting the prevention and integration priorities of the Department. Behavioral Health Integration Specialists are masters’ level licensed clinicians that provide expertise through their clinically trained competency of the needs of families contending with complex family dynamics such as substance misuse, and mental health service needs. 

 

The Behavioral Health Integration Specialist position further serves by providing expertise through the facilitation of teaming and staffing processes focused on multi-agency collaboration, upstreaming services and supports, and the early identification of children and families who are likely to need deeper-end services or experience out-of-home placements without a coordinated, robust intervention strategy.

 

How you will make an impact:

Behavioral Health Integration Specialists are proficient in the identification and engagement of children and families with behavioral health conditions in the child welfare and community system. Behavioral Health Integration Specialists provide coordination, linkage to services and supports based on the needs of the family while employing evidence-based philosophies and methods in their engagement with the child and family. The Behavioral Health Integration Specialists consults and collaborates with system stakeholders in the facilitation of a multi-disciplinary teaming process to holistically wraparound the families through enhanced engagement and ensuring families receive the right supportive services at the right time. Specific tasks of the Behavioral Health Integration Specialists include:

 

  • Fostering and maintaining relationships with law enforcement, community-based care (CBC) agencies, regional managing entity, managed care plans, schools, peer networks, network service providers, Department of Juvenile Justice, Agency for Persons with Disabilities, and other agencies to provide ongoing technical assistance and consultation related to the identification of behavioral health conditions and best practices to engage and treat, to include the demonstration of engagement techniques with the family.
  • Participating in processes ensuring the System of Care in the SunCoast Region is sustainable and working towards a reduction in Baker Acts, decreased utilization of higher levels of care, family involvement with law enforcement, and school-based incidents.
  • Working collaboratively with community service providers and the Managing Entity (ME) to develop contacts, facilitate referrals, and assist investigative staff with engaging clients in recommended services and improving timely access to treatment.
  • Facilitation of teaming and multi-disciplinary staffing processes to wrap and link the family with the right services and supports.
  • Engaging with the child and family to screen for service needs and action planning.
  • Promoting improved communication, coordination, and accountability across human-service agencies.
  • Attending community meetings, staffing’s, and other travel related activities as needed.
  • Maintaining case tracking and provide statistical data as requested.
  • Developing partnerships for expedited access to needed services.

Qualifications:

  • Possess licensure in social work or mental health counseling (LMHC or LCSW).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of mental health and substance abuse.
  • Prior experience facilitating staffing’s for children and families.
  • Prior experience with child welfare.
  • Prior experience with case management or care coordination is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and skill in wraparound processes and staffing facilitation.
  • Knowledge and skill in evidence-based practices and interventions.
  • Knowledge and skill in screening processes.
  • Knowledge and skill in motivational interviewing techniques
  • Knowledge of prevention and integration processes.
  • Knowledge of information gathering, knowing how to find information, and identifying essential information.
  • Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data.
  • Ability to develop monitoring methodologies and evaluation of the quality of service to clients and compliance with rules, policies, and statutes.
  • Ability to review and evaluate plans and programs.
  • Ability to use logic and analysis to identify the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships and work as a team member.
  • Knowledge of information gathering, knowing how to find information, and identifying essential information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and FSFN.

What is OPS employment?

OPS employment is a temporary employer/employee relationship used for accomplishing short term or intermittent tasks.  OPS employees are at-will employees and are subject to actions such as pay changes, changes to work assignment, and terminations at the pleasure of the agency head or designee.
