This is a full-time OPS position working under the direct supervision of the Community Programs Manager. The work schedule is in-office, 40 hours per week. Regular hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The position will work at the Sebring office.

 

The OPS Education and Training Specialist for the Florida Department of Health in Highlands County helps develop and maintain the agency’s organizational training strategy, employee wellness, and workforce development initiatives, among other duties. The incumbent will coordinate with program managers/supervisors to identify workforce training and development gaps and develop suitable training initiatives. The OPS Education and Training specialist will work across many departments to assist supervisors in developing department-specific training, as well as in conjunction with the Community Programs Manager to develop the agency’s overall strategic multi-year training plan. Responsibilities of the incumbent include adapting to and working within the DOH-Highlands’ culture to help enhance employees’ skills, performance, productivity, well-being, and quality of work.

 

Training and Workforce Development

  • Assist in developing organizational and individual multi-year training and development plans that address gaps and expectations
  • Support new hires through the orientation period, including facilitating new employee orientation
  • Work with DOH-Highlands’ program leads to identify training needs and develop plans
  • Work closely with program managers to develop or oversee the production of instructional materials, aids, and manuals
  • Assist with Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for staff needing to maintain licensure
  • Ensure that all staff complete mandatory DOH training in accordance with state and local policies
  • Assist staff who provide trainings in creating course descriptions, registering participants, and monitoring completions

 

Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator (TRAIN Florida)

  • Create and update user profiles
  • Assign training plans and courses
  • Create courses and plans, in collaboration with program leads
  • Monitor and verify completion of courses
  • Provide reports for use by employees and managers, upon request
  • Manage course registrations/generate class rosters

 

Special Projects, as assigned

  • Work closely with program leads on special projects, as requested, to enhance all areas and support program initiatives

 

Administrative

  • Maintain documentation
  • Assist with all-staff meetings
  • Assist program managers with facilitating and conducting training and exercises, as requested
  • Assist with conference room reservations and coordinating room set-up, audio/video

specifications, and act as liaison for all guest presenters/lecturers

Qualifications:

 

Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.

Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time, use a keyboard for typing, and lift up to 25 pounds.

Bachelor’s degree in public health- or education-related field is preferred. Relevant experience can substitute for a degree.
