MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of administrative experience; or
A master’s degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience; or
Administrative or clerical experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
An equivalent combination of education and experience which equals five (5) years can substitute for the above requirements.
Requires possession of a valid class E driver license.

JOB DUTIES:
This position works directly with the Center Manager assisting with all administrative aspects of the Chipola Forestry Center operations. The work often involves the research and analysis of data and the preparation of detailed written reports, both independently and collectively with other Center staff. May be called on to make recommendations and independently make decisions based on available data. This position requires that the individual be knowledgeable in Florida Forest Service and Department of Agriculture policy and procedure and possess the ability to provide assistance and guidance when necessary. This work involves work of a confidential nature. This position assists the Center Manager with the research, development and implementation of subject matters relating to collective bargaining issues.
Directs personnel management for the Chipola Forestry Center. Interprets personnel policy and communicates directions to assist supervisors in carrying out all personnel procedures. Oversees Center-wide recruitment employee selection process, training, and assisting supervisors. Prepares vacancy announcements. Responds to employment inquires from the public. Coordinates preparation and approval of position selection modules. Reviews recommended candidate packages with supervisors analyzing employment histories, references, etc., of all applicants. Prepares final employment packages and coordinates submittal, changes, etc., with Deputy Chief and Tallahassee personnel office liaison. Signs up new employees. Follows up with supervisors to ensure completion of all orientation/training requirements. Monitors compliance with annual physical fitness and medical testing requirements. Establishes/maintains all current and terminated employee personnel files and documentation including initial employment and insurance paperwork, selection modules, status changes, separation records, retirement papers, disciplinary records, performance reviews, correspondence, commendations, etc. Responsible for coordinating the performance appraisals system at the Center. Coordinates timely and thorough completion of employee performance reviews and plans. Coordinates all status changes with individual employees and/or supervisors as requested. Promptly notifies department personnel office, through division liaison, of all significant employee changes. Maintains separate, secure, confidential files for all medical records. Responsible for coordinating revisions, approval, and accurate databases of current position descriptions for all Center employees. Handles the coordination and scheduling of districts’ LifeScan program.
Responsible to Center Manager for the directing and performing of routine and special projects and assignments, such as timely response to department/division requests for information and/or data; collecting and analyzing data; formulating reports which recommend solutions and procedural actions; preparing memos, written drafts, and correspondence. Takes phone calls for Center Manager, researching and responding to public inquiries in his absence. Assists Center Manager and Field Operations Deputy Chief in personnel matters and communications that require confidentiality.
Processes all time and attendance reports for the Chipola Forestry Center. Maintains leave balance records.
Tracks random and pre-employment drug and alcohol testing for Center employees.
Performs other related work as assigned, which may include the handling of revenue.
