MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
 

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience in computer systems analysis, computer programming or in planning or designing distributed computer systems; or
 

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems and one (1) years of experience as described above; or
 

A master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems; or
 

Three (3) years of experience as described above and either (1) completion of a 720-classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry), or (2) 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution which includes four courses in computer science or management information systems.
 

Experience as described above can be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
 

Completion of a one-year program of study from a vocational/technical school in an area of data processing (excluding data entry) can substitute for one year of the required experience.
 

Requires possession of a valid class E driver license.

JOB DUTIES:
 

This position provides Information Technology (IT) technical support for the Florida Forest Service.
 

Provides technical support and problem-solving assistance to the Florida Forest Service’s (FFS) clients of computer hardware, software, and network communications. This includes installation, diagnostic evaluation, and technical troubleshooting of all software and hardware problems. Priority should be given to the FFS’s custom applications such as FMIS – Fire Management Information Systems, Forest Protection’s Asset Tracking, and Forest Management’s timber sales program FMS – Forest Management Sales. Additionally, GIS applications should be included as a priority application. Also, utilizes the department’s Helpdesk software to track all customer support requests.
 

Maintains the computer inventory according to department policy using the department’s asset tracking software.  Ensures that the proper forms are filled out when the hardware is relocated.  Ensures all software is properly licensed before installation and is tracked to comply with licensing agreements.
 

Provides both formal and one-on-one training/instruction to FFS’s clients in the use of the following, but not limited to Microsoft Office products Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, ArcGIS, custom GIS applications, Windows 10, networking, and VPN network access.  Prepares client brief training documents, manuals, and/or presentations for training purposes.
 

Provides technical leadership in the evaluation of hardware/software and makes recommendations to upgrade existing equipment or to purchase new equipment.  Advises management on distributed computing innovations and solutions.  Provides hardware/software purchasing information to the Service clients for acquisition.
 

Maintains an acute awareness of the latest technological advances in hardware and software equipment through research and attending seminars, educational courses, and conferences.  Attends and completes training when necessary.
 

Performs other duties as assigned.
