MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of supervisory experience in engineering, building construction, construction or maintenance of highways, buildings or bridges, fleet vehicle and/or aircraft maintenance and repair or fixed base maintenance and repair operations. 

 

Experience in engineering, building construction, construction or maintenance of highways, buildings or bridges, fleet vehicle and/or aircraft maintenance and repair or fixed based maintenance and repair operations can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

JOB DUTIES:

 

Responsible and accountable for managing budget/dollars/resources (staff, vehicles, computers, cell phones, etc.) of any assigned programs in an efficient and accountable manner.  Responsible for ensuring that assigned program areas have operational procedures and processes which result in accountability and compliance with division and department policies and procedures.

 

This administrative position is responsible for the management of all services provided by the Maintenance Section related to support of all facility, communications, and equipment programs in the Chipola Forestry Center. Responsible for coordinating property inventories, conducting audits, and managing federally loaned properties. Additional responsibilities include coordinating the Center’s construction and maintenance projects. Monitors work performance of subordinates, including periodic written evaluations and discussions; counseling to develop skills and correct deficiencies; recognizing employee accomplishments; and recommending timely disciplinary actions as needed. Approves timesheets and leave requests.  Documents recommendations for special pay increases, reclassifications, and disciplinary actions, when appropriate. Efficiently carries out employee selection actions when vacancies are to be filled. 

 

Responsible for state property inventory, federal excess property inventory, and sensitive property inventory for the Chipola Forestry Center.  Works with local supervisors to conduct annual inventories and maintains a database of current items with locations.  Oversees the disposal / property sales of inventory items. Maintains records of fire department leases and inspections. Responsible for auditing the various business practices of the Chipola Forestry Center and conduct spot checks at Manager’s request. Programs sign orders for production at the White City Sign Shop and maintains the database used to track sign orders.  Ensures orders are completed and shipped/delivered.

 

Directs and administers the preventative maintenance / repair program for motorized equipment and support equipment assigned to the Center.  Supervises the Automotive Equipment Maintenance Superintendent who is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all motorized equipment assigned to the Chipola Forestry Center.

 

Manages the construction, maintenance and repair of facilities and fixed improvements within the Chipola Forestry Center, including, but not limited to, residences, fire towers, maintenance shops, administrative buildings, well and radio houses, recreation structures, state forest roads/ bridges and heating/cooling systems. Coordinates the planning, bidding and construction of fixed capital outlay (FCO) projects including preparation of blueprints, schedules of values and budget records. 

 

Supervises the Communications Specialist who is responsible for the repair and maintenance of radios and telephone system withing the Chipola Forestry Center.

 

Identifies any expenditures issues and works to develop innovative cost savings methods.  

 

Willingly performs other duties as required.
