JOB DUTIES:

 

The Park Ranger is responsible for the administration of the Sandy Creek State Forest recreation maintenance program. Perform routine maintenance on park structures. This includes providing customer service to visitors, maintenance and cleaning of all recreation sites and dispersed primitive campsites, monitoring and maintenance of multi-use trials, maintenance of all recreation and forest information signage. Assists with the enforcement of state forest recreation rules and regulations. 

 

This position is responsible for assigning and monitoring tasks to plan, organize and direct activities of OPS Park Rangers and Volunteers within the recreation section for Sandy Creek State Forest.  Provide visitor services, such as explaining regulations, answering visitor requests, needs and complaints, and providing information about the park and surrounding areas.  Responsible for recreation reports and maintaining visitation tracking devices and collecting and uploading data into the system.  Responsible for tracking and inputting volunteer hours in the VOLT system.  

 

Responsible for reissuing apiary lease permits, collecting fees and maintaining up-to-date records. Collects fees and issues other state forest use permits such as worm grunting and firewood collection permits. Assists with prescribed burning and other forest management activities. 

 

Assists with events promoting recreational opportunities on Sandy Creek State Forest, assist with planning and organizing public events within the park. Assists with other special events as needed.

 

Performs other related duties as assigned.
