Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position involves independent fiscal and billing duties.  Responsibilities include medical and dental billings to appreciate parties:   Medicaid, Medicare, & Third Party. Posting payment to medical and dental account.  Has computer access to Health Management, Windows, and FLAIR Network. Adheres to Hernando County Health Department Confidentiality and Security policies and procedures.

Receives payments for accounts receivable, reconciles payments against billing/claim forms ensures correctness and completeness of payments. Payments are posted to receivable accounts in the Health Management System (HMS). Any claims not paid in full are noted and followed up for resubmission.

Responsible for reviewing unbilled reports to ensure accuracy of billing to processes Medicaid, Medicare, HMOs, and other insurance claims for services rendered including Current Procedure Terminology (CPT) and International Classification of Disease (ICD) diagnosis codes.

Independently communicates with Accountant I, clerical, and liaisons to ensure good communication and keeps Supervisor aware of any issues or concerns.   Coordinates with Accountant I and billing supervisor to insure all medical and billing function are all done correctly and in a timely manner for Hernando County and the Billing Hub counties.   Attends all meetings and trainings pertinent to Insurance which may include Medicaid, Medicare, and third-party insurers.  Provides all relevant staff assistance with billing procedures, coding, credentialing, etc.

Responsible for handling and dispensing Fiscal department mail.  Assist with mailing monthly statements for Billing Hub and running report for postage equipment.

Serves as Backup for preparing the Fiscal department daily deposit.  Reviewing all departments’ cash, checks and credit card payments against daily cash drawer reports for accuracy.  Entering coding for all cash, checks and credit card transaction made within the CHD into Deposit Transactions file.  Maintaining all documentation for deposits.  Keys all deposit transactions into FLAIR.  Responsible to make necessary correction as requested by the state.

Preforms other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

One or more years of experience with billing, book-keeping or in a business office.

Preferred:

One or more years of experience in customer service.
