Weeki Wachee Springs State Park is looking for a mermaid/merman for our Underwater Theater Department.  Employees of the Underwater Theater Department  take part in various roles of our underwater shows.  These include, but are not limited to swimming show parts, safety diving, control room operating, hosting, posing, etc.  Employees are expected to interact with guests and maintain the brand of Weeki Wachee Springs and the Department of Environmental Protection.  All members of the department work together in a positive, uplifting manner in all roles and duties’ trade functions using assorted equipment and tools. The applicant must be able to work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.

 

Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position are:

 

Ability to swim 400 yards in 16 minutes and participate in underwater auditions.  Must be 18 years or older.  First Aid/CPR/Scuba certification preferred.  Must take part in year-long training program,  Must be able to perform dry roles in the theater as a prince poser or host.  Must be able to perform in in all types of weather (sunny, cold, rain, evenings, etc.)  Work with a positive attitude towards others and a willingness to help where needed.  Deal with visitor inquiries in a tactful, efficient and courteous manner; deal with people and maintain good public relations; enforce rules and regulations; prepare and keep accurate reports; maintain a valid driver’s license; follow verbal and written instructions; prepare reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; understand and apply rules, directives, policies, laws and regulations.
