MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability and willingness to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, if needed.
  • Successful completion of the due diligence process to include, but not limited to, a Level II background check and drug test.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior institutional dietary experience.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Food Service Director and Food Service Administrator in the day-to-day food service operation of the State Veterans’ Nursing Home. 

Ensure that food is stored, prepared, distributed and served under sanitary conditions.

Set-up serving lines with food items according to menu. Ensures hot and cold foods are maintained at correct temperature levels. Tags all outgoing trays with resident’s name, diet, etc.

Performs general cleaning duties to maintain area in a sanitary condition. Cleans equipment, walls, floor, windows, ceiling, counters, tables and chairs, stoves, garbage, and trash rooms. Washes dishes.
Takes out garbage and trash to appropriate area.

Assembles, disassembles, and operates dishwashing machine and kitchen equipment following manufacturer’s instructions.

Assists cooks by cleaning and preparing raw foods following cook’s directions. Prepares salads and salad dressings. Dishes up salads and desserts into containers.

Attends in-service training classes and performs related duties assigned by supervisor. 

Performs other duties as assigned.
