This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets.
This is an independent position that works in the FDOH-SJC Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) department.
Completes anthropometric and hematological processes:
- Obtains anthropometric data for clients utilizing the correct equipment and procedures
- Obtains hematological data for clients utilizing the correct equipment and procedures
- Documents result per procedures
- Calibrates equipment and documents monthly
- Cleans and sterilizes equipment in between clients following established protocols
Completes the processes related to WIC following the WIC Procedure Manual. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Determining eligibility or coordinating the eligibility for the WIC program.
- Coordinating issuance or completing the issuance process for WIC benefits.
- Providing explanation of benefits to new WIC clients as well as reviewing contents of the New People Packet
- Issuing Farmers Market Vouchers and updating logs per protocol
- Interviewing clients to obtain nutrition history and entering into appropriate system
- Scheduling appointments and making appointment reminder calls
- Mailing postcards to unreachable clients.
- Acting as Q-Flow lead by retrieving clients from the queue, adding virtual appointments, completing general transfers, and discharging from the system.
Completes inventories and ordering. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Ordering medical/office supplies within the purchasing guidelines of the State of Florida
- Performing monthly inventory of manual, single-user, and multiple-user breast pumps and attachments and maintains breast pump logs/reports
- Maintaining EBT cards inventory and reconciliation logs for main location weekly
- Completing monthly WIC Special formula inventory
Position is responsible for reports and follow up actions from those reports. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Running and reviewing assigned reports
- Contacting clients or assigning staff to contact clients
- Analyzing reports and reporting on the findings
- Submitting data or assigning staff to submit data
Coordinates and participates in outreach activities for the FDOH-SJC as needed. Activities include but are not limited to:
- Coordinates the Head Start Round Up events
- Completes referrals to community programs and/or resources
- Creates client friendly and informative bulletin boards in waiting areas
- Maintains program required posters in waiting areas
Responsible for WIC Vendor Management by:
- Completing annual Vendor Compliance Reviews for all St Johns County WIC designated stores
- Completing follow up reviews if store is not in compliance
- Conducting annual WIC vendor training in person or virtual
- Completing additional reviews as requested by the WIC State Office
All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Other job-related requirements for this position: Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
